Having just begun pastoring First Baptist, Staunton, Va., spoke of his Sabbath routine, then of the week's work: "On Tuesday I went to Laurel Hill--expecting to hear Settle, who comes all the way from Lexington , to preach here and about; but ended by preaching myself." About the people at First Church: "I find the people very kind and my position here is personally more pleasant than I had at all expected."
